"Jeremy is an exceptional tutor. After working with multiple other tutors, I can confidently say no one matches his ability to distill complex material into something clear and actionable. He has a rare gift for identifying precisely where your reasoning breaks down — and he's turned the LSAT into a science. Trust the process, follow his steps, and you've got it."

Jeremy LaRusso at a Texas Review of Law & Politics event

Hi, I'm Jeremy.

I'm a UT Law student and a $75k merit scholarship recipient. I've tutored 200+ students, and I've built a method that gets results whether you're brand new to the test or stuck at a plateau.

I adapt my explanations to how you think and use your mistakes to decide what we work on.

Real improvement on the LSAT takes real work. You bring the effort; I aim it at exactly what's costing you points.

High effort. High reward.
How it works

We build the fundamentals first, then spend more time on the question types and reasoning errors that give you trouble.

01
LSAT Introduction (Session 1)
In our first two-hour session, we cover the test's format, introduce the question types, and work on argument structure and reading comprehension.
02
Question Type Mastery (Sessions 2–7)
Six sessions on the major LR question types: Sufficient & Necessary Assumption, Strengthen & Weaken, Flaw & Most Vulnerable to Criticism, Inference, Parallel Reasoning, and Principle. Each session builds on the last. With Session 1, the foundation runs about 14 hours.
03
Individualized Focus (Sessions 8+)
After the foundation sessions, I use your practice work and the questions you bring to guide our sessions.
04
Review & adjust
Blind review, wrong-answer analysis, and a plan that changes as your results do.
+
Beyond the LSAT
I also review personal statements and application essays, help you decide what to include in your application, and recommend schools based on your scores, grades, and goals.
?
Why no cold diagnostic?
A full practice test can give you a starting number. But putting an LSAT in front of someone who hasn’t learned the question types is like putting a calculus exam in front of someone who has never taken calculus: the score mostly measures what you haven’t been taught yet, not what you’ll be capable of once you understand the test. We build the fundamentals first. Then, when you take your first full timed test, the results actually tell us something useful.

"Jeremy was incredible. I had worked with a lot of previous tutors who were not genuinely dedicated to my success and my learning style. Jeremy had spent the time to understand my needs, and set out a dedicated, efficient, and effective plan to actuate my goals. My score improved within just a few weeks drastically. I have been referring Jeremy to as many people as I can!"

"After working with several tutors from several organizations, I feel comfortable saying that Jeremy is truly 1 of 1. He's incredibly knowledgeable, but what really sets him apart is how personalized his teaching is. He adapted his explanations to the way I think. If one explanation didn't click, he approached the problem from a completely different angle, and kept doing so until I developed the skills to reason through these questions on my own. One of Jeremy's greatest strengths is diagnosing why you're making mistakes and recognizing negative patterns and biases. He identified the underlying flaws in my thinking and offered me targeted strategies to fix them. As a result, the time I spent studying independently was targeted and intentional as opposed to just moving aimlessly through LSAC's materials. I worked with Jeremy for three months, and I can confidently say he was the best investment I made in my LSAT preparation. If you're looking for someone who combines exceptional knowledge with a genuinely individualized approach, I can't recommend him highly enough."

"Jeremy completely changed how I approached the LSAT. Other tutors gave me a "you got this question wrong for this reason" approach where Jeremy gave me strategy to answer types of questions. He was also incredibly motivational, and unerringly advocated for my ability to succeed — even when I didn't see it. With his tutoring my expectations for the exam changed, and most of all for myself. Jeremy was incredibly honest about the effort I would have to apply to succeed, but that he was right there with me. I would not have had the opportunity to attend Texas A&M had I not been so fortunate as to have Jeremy as my tutor."

"Jeremy is an excellent tutor and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to increase their score. I worked for a period of months (Nov. - April) by myself using only free resources and was only able to increase my score to 156, but with Jeremy's help, my practice exams were 160-162 with only a few sessions, final score of 161 in June 2023. I ended up getting a full tuition scholarship to the school in closest physical proximity to me, and that was exactly what I wanted. If I had worked with him more than just a few sessions I'm certain I could have improved even more. I had never retained a tutor for any reason before, and Jeremy is very personable and non-judgmental, making it an overall great experience."

Why I tutor — and how I'm different

I've been tutoring since high school. At Moraine Valley Community College — where I studied for two years before transferring to DePaul — I tutored across subjects, with a focus on writing and mathematics. By the time I sat for the LSAT, tutoring was already second nature. What surprised me was how much I fell in love with the test itself. The deeper I got into the material, the more I realized I could combine what I'd spent years doing with something I genuinely understood at a high level.

What kept me going was the students. Watching someone finally grasp a concept they'd been fighting for weeks — and then hearing back with a new score — is immensely rewarding. Knowing I played a role in changing the trajectory of someone's life is why I do this.

It's also personal. The LSAT was a door — one that opened into opportunities I'd worked toward for a long time, including UT Law. I know what it means to need this test to go right. That's not something I forget when I'm sitting across from a student.

I didn't grow up around lawyers. Nobody in my family had been to law school, so I learned the process the slow, expensive way — asking questions I was embarrassed not to already know the answers to.

Some students have a parent who practices and can read a personal statement over dinner. Most don't. For those students I'm that person: school lists, score targets, whether a retake is worth it, what a scholarship offer actually comes to. It isn't on the pricing page, but it's part of what you get.

Before you spend anything, check the LSAC fee waiver. If you qualify, it covers a year of LawHub Advantage, CAS, and, depending on your tier, one or two LSAT registrations and three or six school reports — over a thousand dollars in fees at the higher tier. It's free to apply, and plenty of people who assume they won't qualify do.

The pattern is consistent: improvement comes from understanding your errors, not grinding more practice tests. I find what's actually holding you back — and we fix it.

Nobody improves on the LSAT without real work — and that goes both ways. Your job is to practice, review honestly, and keep pushing when an answer still doesn't make sense. Mine is to find what you're missing, explain it until it clicks, and adjust the plan as you improve. It's the motto I use with every student:

High effort. High reward.
Teach before testing — I build the foundation first, then use full practice tests when the results can actually guide our work
Logical Reasoning is a skill, not a trick — it can be systematically improved
Timing problems are often comprehension problems in disguise
Blind review is the most underused tool in LSAT prep
Every student learns differently — there's no single curriculum that works for everyone
No rotating tutor roster — whoever learns how you think in session one is the same person working with you in session ten. That's me, every time

FAQ

Common questions

Everything you need to know before booking — answered directly.

How is this different from a prep course or self-studying?
Prep courses teach broad concepts. I focus on the specific reasoning mistake you are making when you choose the wrong answer. That means we spend less time on generic drilling and more time identifying the assumption you missed, the trap answer you accepted, the flaw pattern you misread, or the timing habit that is costing you points.
I've already been studying on my own and I'm plateauing. Can you actually help?
Plateaus are where I do my best work. They almost always come from a misapplication or misunderstanding of the material — not a lack of effort. I work to isolate exactly where your reasoning breaks down and address it at the root, not the surface. Every relevant concept gets broken down to its foundation, and we don't move on until the underlying logic is solid. Students who come in plateaued tend to move quickly once the right thing gets fixed.
How quickly will I see improvement?
Often right away. A lot of what makes the LSAT feel impossible has straightforward explanations — once you hear them, you can't unhear them. Some concepts click immediately; others, like sufficient and necessary assumption or formal logic, take more time to fully internalize. Either way, you'll leave every session with something concrete and actionable.
Is this right for me if I'm brand new to the LSAT?
Absolutely. The first session is built specifically to orient new students — we cover the format, the question types, and the core reasoning skills the test actually measures. You don't need to have studied anything beforehand, and you don't need a practice test score. Coming in without bad habits is sometimes an advantage.
Should I take a diagnostic test before we start?
If you're brand new, I'd hold off. A cold diagnostic gives you a number, but for someone who hasn't yet learned what the test is asking, I don't think that number is worth about three hours of testing. It mostly reflects what you haven't been taught yet, and it can shake your confidence before you've even started. We build the fundamentals first; your first full timed test comes once the results can actually guide our work. If you've already been studying and have practice test scores, that's different. Bring them to the consultation; they're useful.
What does a typical session look like?
Each session opens with whatever questions you've brought from your own studying — nothing is off the table. From there, we work through the material you're struggling with most, whether that's a specific question type, a timing issue, or a section you've been avoiding. The structure flexes based on where you're stuck. If one area needs the full session, that's where we go.
What is Logic Refined, and is it included with tutoring?
Logic Refined is my practice app, built to sit alongside the Masterclass. It has more than 1,200 original LR-style questions, reading-comprehension practice, skill checks and generated conditional-logic drills. Choose a focus and preferred difficulty, read explanations for each answer choice, and return to saved questions in Review. Your progress saves automatically to your account. The Masterclass Study Guide is included with tutoring; Logic Refined is a separate membership: 7 days free, then $9.99/month until canceled. Try the free samples or start your membership.

Materials and Cold Recall access already promised with an earlier tutoring package remain covered by that original offer. Ending tutoring does not cancel a separate Logic Refined subscription.
How long is a session, and can I do shorter ones?
Two hours is the standard, and it's the standard for a reason: an hour is rarely enough to work a timed section and then review it properly, and the review is where most of the improvement happens. That said, packages are sold in hours, not sessions — a 20-hour package is 20 hours whether we use it in ten two-hour sessions or a larger number of shorter ones. If a shorter session fits your schedule or your budget better, tell me and we'll build around it. One hour is the minimum, and the rate is the same either way.
Where do sessions take place?
All sessions are over Zoom. All you need is a stable internet connection and a device with a screen.
What are your availability and hours?
I schedule sessions around my law school classes. Most sessions run on weekday evenings, with daytime openings on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. All times are Central Time. If you need something outside those hours, reach out — off-hour sessions are available at a different rate, quoted in advance.
I don't know anyone who's been to law school. Can you help with the rest of it?
Yes — it's one of the more useful parts of working with me. School lists, score targets, whether a retake makes sense, what a scholarship offer is actually worth. I went through it without a guide, so I know which questions feel too basic to ask. Those are usually the important ones.
Do I need anything before our first session?
Yes — every student needs a LawHub Advantage subscription. It gives you an extensive library of official LSAT PrepTests, which is the primary resource we work from. It's the official LSAC platform and far more useful than any third-party prep material. Check whether you qualify for an LSAC fee waiver first — it includes a year of LawHub Advantage, so you may not need to buy one. Applying is free.
What is your refund policy?
Your first session is the decision point. If it isn't the right fit, tell me in writing (email or text is fine) within 24 hours. The first session is charged in full; if you bought a package, the rest of it is refunded, with that first session counted at your package's hourly rate. After the first session, sessions and packages are non-refundable, whether or not the hours get used. Canceling a session at least 24 hours ahead never costs you hours — they stay on your balance to reschedule. And if I'm ever the one to end our work together, every unused hour you've paid for is refunded.

Policies

Payment & Refund Policies

Clear terms so we can focus on the work, not the logistics.

Payment methods
Tutoring is purchased on this site through Stripe, my secure payment processor, by debit or credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or the other options Stripe offers at checkout. Payment plans through Klarna and Affirm are available at checkout on the 10-Hour and 20-Hour packages; those plans are between you and the provider. By prior arrangement, I also accept Venmo or Zelle. Payment is due in full at purchase, and for any package, before its first session. Sessions outside my regular availability are offered at a different rate, quoted in advance. If my published rates change, hours you've already purchased aren't affected.
Scheduling & cancellation
Sessions can be rescheduled or canceled at no charge with at least 24 hours' notice. A session canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, or one you don't join within 15 minutes of its start time, draws down your balance by that session's scheduled length. I may waive this for a documented emergency or illness. If I ever need to cancel, the session is rescheduled at no charge and no hours are used. Prepaid hours are valid for six months from the date of purchase unless I agree in writing to extend them.
Refunds
Your first session is the decision point. If you're not satisfied after your first session, tell me in writing (email or text) within 24 hours that you'd like to stop. The first session is charged in full. If you purchased a package, I refund what you paid for it, less the hours used in that first session at your package's hourly rate. For example, on the 10-Hour Package ($130/hour), a two-hour first session costs $260, so $1,040 comes back. If a referral code or other discount applied to your purchase, your package's hourly rate is what you paid divided by the hours in the package, and the refund is figured from that: the same package with the 10% referral discount is $1,170, or $117/hour, so $936 comes back. This applies once, to the first session only.

After the first session, fees for sessions and packages are non-refundable, whether or not the remaining hours are used before they expire. Canceling a session at least 24 hours ahead keeps those hours on your balance to reschedule, but doesn't by itself make them refundable.

I may end an engagement at any time. If I do, every unused prepaid hour is refunded at your package's hourly rate within ten business days.

Refunds go to your original payment method and can take up to ten business days. For purchases made through Klarna or Affirm, refunds are issued through that provider under its terms. The Masterclass Study Guide and your Cold Recall access are yours to keep either way.
Referral program
Current and former students each have a referral code. A friend who enters your code at checkout, or buys through your referral link, gets 10% off any package: the Single Session, the 10-Hour Package, or the 20-Hour Intensive. The code works on every purchase that student makes with me, and can't be combined with the hardship rate or any other discount.

When a student you referred buys the 10-Hour Package or the 20-Hour Intensive, you receive $100. I pay it after that student's first session and the 24-hour refund window that follows it, by Venmo or Zelle, or, if you're a current student and prefer it, as one hour added to your package. One payment per referred student. A Single Session on its own doesn't qualify, but if that student later buys a package, it does. You can't refer yourself, and the referred student has to be new to my tutoring.

If you don't have your code, email me and I'll send it with your link. I may change or end the program at any time; codes already used and referrals already made are honored on the terms that were posted.
Tutoring agreement
Every student signs my Tutoring Services Agreement before the first session. These policies are part of it, and if anything here ever differs from the Agreement, the Agreement controls.
Questions or billing issues
If anything about a charge looks wrong, email me at larussojeremy@gmail.com before disputing it with your bank — I resolve billing issues quickly, usually same-day.
